About Us

Ausgrow Farm currently owns and operates a 200 acre property on Dinner Creek road, Eubenangee, near Innisfail in far north Queensland. Our banana plantation aims consistently produce high quality Cavendish and exotic bananas.

Water recycling and Sediment traps

We have implemented a water recycling project to the banana wheel washing system. This allowed us to reduce the water usage by 50% and improved the quality of fruits going to market. Australian Banana Growers Council supported us to prepare Sediment traps in our farm which helps to capture the sediments and water run off. Sediment traps substantially improved the quality of the water (less chemicals, less fertilisers, less soil) running off the farm to the creeks.

Freshcare Standard Food Safety & Quality Edition 4.2
The Freshcare Food Safety & Quality Standard is an industry owned standard. Based on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), the Freshcare Food Safety & Quality Standard describes the good agricultural practices required on farm to provide assurance that fresh produce is safe to eat and has been prepared to meet customer requirements. The standard criteria developed is a HACCP based system, underpinned by the Freshcare master HACCP plan.

Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme
In 2012 Horticulture Australia (now Hort Innovation) Ltd initiated a project to harmonise food safety certification requirements for the major retailers in Australia. The result of this project is the Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme (HARPS). HARPS is a retailer-led scheme designed to assist with compliance to food safety, legal and trade legislation for suppliers to the major grocery retailers in Australia. HARPS was established with the goal of providing a more practical and efficient approach for growers and suppliers, through streamlining the amount of work undertaken during the audit process.

Freshcare Code of Practice Environmental Edition 3
The Freshcare Code of Practice Environmental is an industry owned standard, describing the practices required on farm to provide assurance that produce has been grown and packed with care for the environment. The Freshcare program offers benefits to both suppliers and customers. It verifies that an industry recognised environmental assurance program is followed. Certification to the Freshcare program is achieved through independent third party auditing to this Code of Practice by approved auditors. Freshcare Limited continues to work closely with key customer groups and industry stakeholders, maintaining a level of awareness of program developments and ensuring continued compliance with market requirements and community expectations.
